Join the Southeast Michigan RESTORE Team to bring Earth Partnership to your school!
Six Rivers Land Conservancy, Greening of Detroit, and Cranbrook Institute of Science are partnering to form a SEMI Earth Partnership for Schools (EPS) Center as a part of the Great Lakes Earth Partnership. We are looking to recruit a team of teachers from southeastern Michigan to participate in a 10-day Leadership Institute, Aug 1-5, 2011 at the Annis Water Resources Institute (AWRI), Grand Valley State U., Muskegon, MI and Aug. 8-12, 2011 at the Dunes Learning Center at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore involving watershed, conservation and environmental education organizations and agencies and schools in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.
Great Lakes Earth Partnership, funded by the U.S. EPA Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, will employ ecological restoration of native plant communities on schoolyards, in rain gardens and nearby shoreline, wetland, riparian and estuarine habitats as a basis for interdisciplinary K-16 curriculum activities, teacher professional development & citizen science.
For their participation, teachers will receive 6 graduate credits in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin with tuition waived!
