Lisa Appel, Watershed Coordinator at CIS, participated in a week-long scientific investigation of the quagga mussel invasion in Lake Michigan. In partnership with the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Great Lakes WATER Institute, COSEE Great Lakes and the National Science Foundation Divsion of Ocean Sciences, the course offered real-world research experience to educators from around the Great Lakes basin on the R/V Neeksay. Participants gathered and analyzed data on mussel size, bottom substrate, water chemistry, transparency, temperature and conductivity. Stokes State Forest in Branchville,nj is about 1 hour from NYC. You can tent camp, rent a lean-to, or rent a cabin. The cabins are litlte log cabins, soo cute and only $ 45/night. Tenting is like $ 20/night. The cabins have bathrooms (no shower tho, but showers with HOT water are free walking distance) Cabins also have bunks 2 single beds (we pushed 2 together) with a kitchen (stove refrig) and a pot belly stove for heat ambiance. It gets cold there this time of year (54 degrees or so at night) But it's still in the 80 s during the day. Check it out! We were there is June, and going back tomorrow for 2 weeks. It;s quiet has about 24 different hiking trails Deleware water Gap is minutes away, so there is tons to do. Good Luck!!

I totally love Core 5!!! I love the assngnmeits, I love the projects... we are doing it for the second time and will happily do it six more times!!! My kids really look forward to the little assngnmeits and are so happy to learn so much to get to them!!! I love that it is not just the facts, if I had been preparing it I would have packed it with facts, but this core is so much more it looks at arts and cultures and the heart of the people. I love that it appeals to their creative side as well - encouraging them to try recipes, music, costumes and make puppet shows and things. My guys have loved the adventurousness of it - this is really virtual traveling at its best. And as for having to find things in World Book...well a quick look-up is not an option, they spend hours wandering along from link to link and just love it... I want to say "Would you stop reading the World Book Already" - but I catch myself and leave them to it!!!

you might not be using enough water to keep the unit runnnig. It has a safety system when not enough water flows and there by it would get to hot it shuts the heater off. Here is what you need to do. Turn your shower head to full hot than slowly turn the knob toward cold until the proper temp is achieved. Than leave it.Good luck
